Our Impact: Transforming Zimbabwe through Sustainable Development

At Crown Agents Zimbabwe (CAZim), we are driven by the goal of creating lasting change in the communities we serve. Through our partnerships, expertise, and innovative solutions, we are helping Zimbabwe overcome its most pressing challenges, from healthcare and humanitarian crises to economic stabilization and governance reform.

This page showcases the impact of our projects, reflecting the positive outcomes and tangible improvements we’ve achieved across the country. Our work is grounded in our mission to accelerate self-sufficiency and prosperity for all Zimbabweans, ensuring that we leave a lasting legacy of progress and empowerment.

Key Areas of Impact

1. Health Sector Transforming Healthcare Delivery

Transforming Healthcare Delivery

  • Access to Health Services: Over 6 million people in Zimbabwe have gained access to critical health services since the launch of our Results-Based Financing (RBF) project in 2012.
  • Maternal Health Improvements: Through the construction of 500 maternity-waiting homes, we have helped reduce maternal mortality rates by 50%.
  • Health Worker Retention: Our Human Resources for Health Retention Scheme (HRHRS) supported 25,000 health workers through timely retention payments, ensuring a stable healthcare workforce and improved service delivery.
  • Improved Health Outcomes: Attendance rates at health facilities jumped from 20% in 2008 to 99.98% in 2016, and critical healthcare services, such as maternal and child health (MNCH), were significantly enhanced.

2. Humanitarian Interventions

Responding to Crises with Immediate Impact

  • COVID-19 Response: During the COVID-19 pandemic, we provided cold storage facilities for the safe distribution of vaccines, enabling the successful vaccination drive and contributing to the herd immunity of Zimbabwe’s population. Working with UNICEF and Ministry of Health and Child Care,  immediate funds were availed to health facilities through the RBF project to locally procure emergency personal protective equipment.

  • Emergency Relief: In 2016-17, we facilitated the importation of 55,000 tonnes of maize, providing essential food assistance to 1.6 million people during Zimbabwe’s lean season.
  • Last-Mile Logistics: We’ve ensured the successful delivery of essential goods and services, even in the most challenging environments, providing relief to communities in need.

3. Economic Stabilization

Driving Economic Recovery

  • Government Support: Through our work as the procurement agent for the ZimFund, we’ve helped the Government of Zimbabwe access vital resources for infrastructure rehabilitation, economic recovery, and development.
  • Procurement Reforms: Our efforts in reforming Zimbabwe’s public procurement system resulted in the creation of the Procurement Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (PRAZ), enhancing transparency and efficiency in the allocation of government resources.
  • Resource Mobilization: We have worked to improve domestic resource mobilization, combat corruption, and foster a conducive environment for business and investment through our economic stabilization initiatives.

4. Governance & Public Administration

Strengthening Governance Structures

  • Governance Reforms: We supported the Government of Zimbabwe in the successful implementation of procurement reforms, resulting in the establishment of the Procurement Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (PRAZ).
  • Community Engagement: Through the Results-Based Financing for Health project, we engaged 916 communities, ensuring their participation in improving healthcare delivery and addressing gaps in maternal and child health services.
  • Public Financial Management: Our financial management expertise has played a crucial role in improving the efficiency and accountability of public administration, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively and responsibly.

5. Climate Change & Renewable Energy

Building Resilience to Climate Change

  • Renewable Energy Projects: We’ve worked with the Government of Zimbabwe to implement solar-powered health projects, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and ensuring access to clean energy in rural and underserved areas.
  • Climate Change Adaptation: Our work in healthcare waste management and climate change mitigation helps vulnerable communities build resilience to environmental impacts, promoting long-term sustainability.
