Our Commitment to Sustainable Health Systems
Our Approach to Health System Strengthening
CAZim’s health services are built on a foundation of collaboration and innovative solutions. We address key healthcare challenges by focusing on:
- Procurement and Supply Chain Management:
We manage the procurement of essential medicines and provide technical assistance on critical areas to ensure efficiency, transparency and sustainability in the supply chain including supply chain optimisation. Our efficient logistics networks help overcome geographical barriers, ensuring timely delivery and reducing stockouts.
- Public Health Financing: Through strategic partnerships and our in-house expertise in public health financing, we improve the financial sustainability of health systems. Our work supports cost-effective, results-driven healthcare delivery that benefits communities.
Human Resources for Health: We contribute to strengthening Zimbabwe’s health workforce by ensuring that health workers retention allowance is timeously paid helping to maintain a skilled workforce in the healthcare sector.
Key Achievements
1. Access to Health Services for 6 Million People
Through the Results Based Financing (RBF) project, funded by the Health Development Fund through UNICEF, CAZim has provided access to essential health services for over 6 million individuals in Zimbabwe since 2012. The project has significantly increased access to maternal and child health services, immunization, and emergency healthcare, particularly in rural areas.
2. Retention Allowances for Health Workers
Since 2009, CAZim has ensured the timely payment of retention allowances for over 25,000 health workers, helping to stabilize Zimbabwe’s healthcare workforce. This initiative has improved staff retention, enhanced healthcare delivery, and supported the ongoing provision of services in challenging environments.
3. Results-Based Financing Impact
Our involvement in the Results-Based Financing (RBF) model has led to measurable improvements in healthcare outcomes, such as increased antenatal visits, improved healthcare service delivery, and reduced maternal mortality. The RBF model directly links financial incentives to performance, encouraging health facilities to provide higher quality services.
