Our Role in Supporting Zimbabwe’s Economic Growth
In close collaboration with the Government of Zimbabwe, Crown Agents Zimbabwe (CAZim) as a trusted partner supports the Government of Zimbabwe (GoZ) in achieving economic stability and fostering sustainable growth through its excellent working relationships across ministries and agencies, to address some economic issues at hand. Through a combination of technical expertise and strategic interventions, we provide valuable support in advancing Zimbabwe’s economic agenda.
Our Approach to Economic Stabilization
- Procurement Reform & Capacity Building CAZim in collaboration with the Government of Zimbabwe, we have been instrumental in helping address procurement inefficiencies, particularly through the ZIMFUND project, funded by the African Development Bank (AfDB). Acting as the procurement agent for the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, CAZim helped streamline procurement processes, ensuring that funds were used effectively and transparently.
- Advancing Domestic Resource Mobilization We work closely with the GoZ to strengthen the country’s financial systems, focusing on combating corruption through the reform and modernization of customs processes. By improving revenue collection and resource allocation, we can help the government raise the necessary funds for national development while ensuring transparency and accountability.
- Fostering Business Growth & Investment CAZim promotes economic stability by fostering a conducive environment for business and investment. Through the introduction of single-window systems and other trade facilitation measures, we streamline business operations, reduce bureaucratic red tape, and increase investor confidence. This helps create an environment where both local and international businesses can thrive.
Key Achievements
1. Successful Procurement Reform Initiatives
In collaboration with the GoZ, CAZim played a key role in transforming Zimbabwe’s public procurement systems. As part of the ZIMFUND project, we assisted the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development by managing procurement activities that directly impacted economic recovery and growth.
2. Development of Zimbabwe’s Regional Integration Strategy
Under an AfDB-funded Institutional Capacity Building Programme, CAZim provided technical assistance to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce in developing Zimbabwe’s Regional Integration Strategy Paper (RISP). The work involved multi-stakeholder engagement and strategic input to position Zimbabwe in regional and continental trade blocs such as SADC, COMESA, and the AfCFTA.
3. Enhancing Business and Investment Climate
Our work in facilitating trade and introducing systems like the single-window approach has helped improve Zimbabwe’s business environment. By simplifying business processes, we’ve made it easier for businesses to invest, operate, and expand in Zimbabwe.
